Beach Restoration Advocates,

We have two important opportunities coming up to make real progress toward restoring Oceanside’s beaches, and we need your support to make a difference. Please mark your calendar and join us at these key events.

#1. Community Engagement with City Council

Date: Wednesday, March 26th
Time: 5:00 PM - Meet us outside at 4:30 PM for a FREE SOS tee (while supplies last)
Location: Oceanside City Council Chambers

We need a strong community presence to support two critical agenda items:

• Approval to submit a $25 million grant application to the California Department of Boating and Waterways for 900,000 cubic yards of sand for the RE:BEACH pilot project. This would require 15 percent in city matching funds.

• Funding for near-term beach sand nourishment projects and ongoing coastal management in the Fiscal Year 2025/26 budget.

It is essential that we show up and make it clear to the City Council that sand on the beach requires dedicated funding in the city budget. Your presence will send a powerful message about the importance of protecting and restoring our beaches.

#2. SOS Oceanside Community Meeting

Date: Thursday, April 3rd
Time: Mixer at 5:00 PM (cash bar and food from Ryes and Grind)
Meeting: 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Location: The Vault Oceanside – 236 S. Coast Highway, Oceanside

We are excited to welcome Councilmember Figueroa and Deputy Mayor Joyce as our guest speakers. These are the two Councilmembers whose districts span the entire Oceanside coastline. This is a unique opportunity for community members to hear directly from them about the work they are doing to help restore sand to our beaches and to ask questions about the future of Oceanside’s shoreline.
