On behalf of the entire Save Oceanside Sand (SOS) Team, I wanted to personally thank you for your generous contribution to SOS. SOS has embarked on an ambitious effort this year to expand our education and outreach to better inform the public and spread the word on the Oceanside Beach Sand Nourishment and Retention Pilot Project. Your contribution has enabled us to fund and execute the following efforts in furthering our mission of Protecting shoreline habitat by restoring sand to our beaches.  

• Establishing our first annual SOS Student Intern Program

• • 6 interns this year from local high schools – funded $500 grants for each intern for participation in four pop-up sessions and one citizen science data collection event.

• A consultant for SOS website updates and improvements.

• Recurring operating expenses – website, insurance and other operating

• A consultant for marketing efforts – improving pop-up materials, developing videos for social media and website, aligning messaging with the RE:BEACH Oceanside Resilience Design Competition.

• An analysis by Anderson of the SOS 501(C)(3) 1029 submittals and issuing a letter of confidence signed by Anderson managing director,  Timothy Wylie.

• Rollout of two iPads (provided by another donor)and a digital method to sign up new members as well as accept donations digitally via Stripe, Apple Pay and Venmo platforms.

• A consultant for administrative duties of volunteer coordinator and fundraising.

Future budgeted expenses:

• Expanded marketing and outreach – ads in local publications.

• Fundraiser event to further raise capital for execution of the full business plan budget.

This past summer, SOS celebrated our four-year anniversary! With over 800 members strong and growing, and over 1,500 Instagram followers, the SOS brand is recognized for its sustained, professional, fact/science base approach to providing collaborative support for an executable solution.
